She released her debut single, Here in 2015 at the age of 19. It quickly became a hit that both critics and admirers praised it. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked the single at 19. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song as one of 2015's most memorable Songs. It was the same time when she debuted Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful, one of her five original songs that was featured on the Billboard Charts, including Billboard Hot 100 for Canada, and Billboard 200 for Canadian Albums Charts. The track is special because, based on the Rap-Up interview that she did with her listeners were able to connect to her experiences of finding love for themselves, as well as doubting herself. Cara includes messages of love and kindness in her songs. Her inspiration for her music stems from her personal struggles in overcoming mental health issues as well as insomnia. In an interview with Reuters the singer declared her album to be "half tumultuous" and "half perfect". Her growth was aided by therapy and she encourages others to seek help if necessary. At the age of 10 old, her parents bought her a guitar, which was the starting point of her love for music. Three years later at 13 she began covering her favorite songs on YouTube a major media platform to show the world that she was talented and the determination to be a professional singer. Sweater Weather is one of these covers which led to her being discovered at the time by EP Entertainment. This record label allowed her create the songs she wrote herself.
