At 19 years old, she released Here, her first single. It became a huge hit immediately, and both critics and fans praised it. It reached number 19 on the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the best songs of 2015. This is the same year that she dropped Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five songs she wrote that made it to the Billboard charts. It was different due to the fact that many listeners were able to relate to the interview she did with rapper Rap-Up on her journey to learn to love and be herself. Cara's songs contain messages of love, self-love and mental health. The inspiration for her music comes from Cara's personal struggle to overcome mental health problems and insomnia. According to a Reuters interview, she has said that her album was half turbulent but half perfected. She claims she has grown through therapy and she encourages anyone else to seek out assistance when needed. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11th, 1996. She was given a guitar from her parents at the time she turned 10 which ignited her passion for music. At the age of 13 she began performing her favourite songs via YouTube an important media platform to show the world that she was talented and determination to develop into a singer. Sweater Weather was her most famous album. The record label EP Entertainment EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her write songs.
